EO/IR System Engineering Specialist
Description:
Solid State Scientific Corporation is seeking an experienced individual to join an exciting team in developing sensors, systems and algorithms for acquiring and analyzing spectral-temporal data in the electro-optic/infrared (EO/IR) bands. The scientist/engineer will work closely with a team of scientists and engineers who develop novel spectral sensors for a variety of applications, and will be expected to assume a leadership roll in developing and identifying application-specific systems and algorithms that will impact future sensor development. The position involves research into novel spectral sensing techniques in the EO/IR, aiding in the development of prototype sensors, and integration of sensors and algorithms into sensor systems.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess a familiarity with, and a demonstrated competency in at least one of, the following: EO/IR Sensors (optics, refrigeration/dewars, focal plane arrays, camera electronics, data standards); Physics of EO/IR (radiometry, atmospheric modulation, combustion); Analysis (sensor modeling, atmospheric modeling, classification, characteristics of weapons systems); System Engineering (camera design, processing design, logistics, optimization, testing, system integration, program management).
This position requires a MS in a physical science discipline, engineering, computer science, or similar field with 5 – 10 years of experience working with EO/IR systems, or a PhD with 3 – 5 years of experience in the same. Required computer skills include a good working knowledge of C/C++, experience with a scripting language such as Python, and common programming environments. In addition, the position requires the ability to work independently and communicate results effectively. The candidate must be able to qualify for a U.S. security clearance.
